Leonardo da Vinci

The cable laying vessel 'Leonardo da Vinci' passing Sunderland on the way to the Port of Tyne in Newcastle. The ship was constructed in Norway at a cost of €170 million and launched in 2021 (https://www.prysmiangroup.com/en/insight/projects/from-design-to-delivery). I think the namesake would have been impressed with the technological capabilities of the vessel.

Ndeavor

An overnight arrival, the cable laying ship Ndeavor spent only a few hours in Sunderland before departing again. What is not so obvious from this angle is that this was an amazingly wide ship for the length of the vessel (100 x 30 metres). By comparison, a standard small cargo ship such as the Lady Dawn has a length/width of 100 x 13 metres.
