Multratug 19

The tug 'Multratug 19' hauling the barge 'Bokabarge 7' towards Blyth off Sunderland. I am not sure what the cargo on the barge is, but I suspect they could well be pieces of a windfarm, with a number under construction locally.

Eraclea

The tug Eraclea towing a barge with an unusual structure off Sunderland. The ship tracking websites showed the Eraclea departing Vlissingen on 17 July, with a destination of Blyth. It spent most of the day drifting offshore, possibly waiting for the northerly swell to recede.

Forth Jouster

The Forth Jouster towing a barge northwards off Sunderland, with a rainbow in the background. The ship had initially been towing the barge south but had turned a short time later, with weather conditions possibly too rough. PIP #1 and 2: Closer view of the Forth Jouster and the barge.

Wagenborg Barge 11

22 May 2023 1 38
The 'Wagenborg Barge 11' carrying four very long pipes being towed into Sunderland. As can be seen in the picture, the barge showed a moderate list to starboard. It struck me as slightly odd that the pipes were not evenly distributed rather than having three on this side. I think this may have also been the reason it took two attempts to get the barge into Sunderland, with the first abandoned after much discussion on the bow of the barge. On the second attempt, it was successfully moored at the Corporation Quay. PIP #1: The entire flotilla of the Carlo Martello, barge, two tugs and the PV Heron. PIP #2: The barge in the Wear channel. PIP #3: The barge is manoeuvred from the Corporation Quay back out to sea the following morning.

Stema Barge II

Close-up of the cabin at the front of the barge, with the name plate visible. The barge was used to deliver several thousands of rock from Latvia to Sunderland. This was used to improve the seawall on the southeastern side of the Port.

The barge being moved into position at Greenwells Quay. This view shows the front of the barge with a small cabin or workshop (?) in the centre.

Centaurus

The Centaurus hauling the Stema Barge II into Sunderland, with two of the three tugs used to manoeuver the barge in frame as well.

Haven Seaway (MMSI: 235075928)

The Jack-up Barge Haven Seaway being returned to Sunderland by the tugs Marksman and Pullman after an unsuccessful attempt at moving it. I suspect the sea conditions were not suitable.

Haven Seaway (MMSI: 235075928)

The Haven Seaway, a Jack-up Barge owned by Red 7 Marine, being moved from the Port of Sunderland by the Forth Drummer. This was the second, and finally successful, attempt at moving the barge. A day later, I spotted the barge in position just south of Seaham. The NHL Ariel has been making regular shuttle runs to/from the barge.
