Making waves - the dredger 'Sandsend' passing Roker lighthouse. Owned by Scarborough Borough and normally based in Whitby, the 'ship' is actually a barge that was converted to a dredger in 2003. This appears to have caused some confusion as it is listed twice on the MarineTraffic website - once as a port tender as well as a motor hopper. The name refers to a small village a few kilometers north of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. PIP #1 & #2: Two more pictures of the Sandsend.
