Roman Theater, Aspendos, Turkey

Remarkable condition.
My photo for the Sunday group with the theme "theatre". Standing inside this area brings back visions of gladiators fighting, actors bellowing, spectators cheering or booing.
It is still in use for special music and theatrical events.

Mission Ruins

These are the walls of a mission located in San Antonio, Texas. We were fortunate to be taken on a private tour of the San Antonio area, with an emphasis on the missions. There were quite a number established during the earliest European settlement.
This mission building is only part of the general facility, some of which is still standing and hosts regular worship.

The flag-in-boot display (memorial?) was located behind this tree. The crowd here in D'Hanis is blocking our view. The school children and adults are getting ready for the pass-by of the huge UP steam locomotive (4014, "Big Boy").

The flag-in-boot display (memorial?) was at the base of this historical information sign in D'Hanis, Texas.
We were getting ready for the pass-by of the huge UP steam locomotive (4014, "Big Boy"), when I took these pictures of the locale.

The Air Force Museum in Dayton is amazing, but very large. There are actually few places to sit and rest our weary feet.
These seats are set up near the B-2 bomber.

Part of my WW I collection, this is a great studio portrait of a soldier. The photo is marked on the back as "Columbus Barracks". That facility was a recruit center in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
He is posing with his rifle (and bayonet), just one of the interesting photo variants that interest me.

More ruins on the hills above Ephesus (which are great ruins in themselves.)

This is a remarkable church, and much photographed. If you are in or near Tucson, Arizona, be sure to visit.
This is a "characterful building" for the Sunday Challenge.

S.S. Agamemnon JWB Card, WW I

These picture postcards were given out to returning troops after the First World War, while they were on the troopships coming back from Europe.
A military person could mail these cards onboard for no cost. Once they reached the shore, they had to pay to mail it.
This particular card is in vertical format and has the "Issued by" wording. Those are identifying features for a card collector, as there are other formats and wording to be seen.
This ship was the former German liner Kaiser Wilhelm II before being taken over by the United States.
