Comin' at Ya

We were fortunate to be in Texas when the Union Pacific 4014 locomotive (Big Boy) was passing through. We set up our camera in the lovely small town of D'Hanis and caught this scene as the train approached. Image captured from Panasonic Lumix GX85 4K frame series with ffmpeg, and procssed with GIMP. Steam Locomotive (HFF)

14 Aug 2024 30 14 338
Taken at the Texas Transportation Museum, located in San Antonio. Their website. They have some working equipment, and today, they were running a tank locomotive pulling a caboose. You know this is a "real" rail experience, because as this tank engine passed us, we were covered with smuts. (Sad news, this tank engine is out of service as of 2021 and needs repairs.) Image processed with GIMP.

Mission Ruins

These are the walls of a mission located in San Antonio, Texas. We were fortunate to be taken on a private tour of the San Antonio area, with an emphasis on the missions. There were quite a number established during the earliest European settlement. This mission building is only part of the general facility, some of which is still standing and hosts regular worship. A Texas institution, Buc-ees is a gigantic gas station/rest stop along the interstates. Among the amazing food items made and sold there, the fudge is very popular. www.buc-ees.com/index.php

Pass-by of the Union Pacific 4014 Locomotive (Big Boy) at D'Hanis, Texas, on November 4, 2019. Note the school children waving American Flags.
