The big container ships cannot get up the river, so the "tugs" are pushing barges loaded with containers. The fellows on this boat are having a great time, interacting with the cruise ship passengers.

We were anchored in the Amazon River. You can see the water is nice and brown. The bulk carrier is in an area with less sediment.

The low water is a greater problem upstream in Manaus. Ocean-going ships can navigate 1,000 miles upstream.

T-shirt seller in Parintins, Brazil. He is also the artist, and we were very impressed with the images he created. We still wear these shirts, purchased in 2008.
