These are the walls of a mission located in San Antonio, Texas. We were fortunate to be taken on a private tour of the San Antonio area, with an emphasis on the missions. There were quite a number established during the earliest European settlement. This mission building is only part of the general facility, some of which is still standing and hosts regular worship. A kinda "googie" sign on this motel in Astoria, Oregon. I walked around the port area, and saw a lot of interesting places. (Some of the rest of the motel's style could be googie as well, maybe.) Not your typical "tourist" area or center of town. Image taken with phone and processed with GIMP.

Mural in the post office, Forest City, Iowa. This post office was built during the Great Depression. The government paid unemployed artists to decorate the post offices with artworks appropriate to the locality. Image processed with GIMP.

A wall of the interior of the post office in Forest City, Iowa. These buildings were put up during the Great Depression. I am guessing that this wall had a mural on it, much like the one shown in another photo. Some of the buildings were re-furbished after the 1930's, and many of the artworks were lost.

Most of Hoover Dam is concrete, and more concrete. However, the designers added some architectural details, all in Art Deco style. Image processed with GIMP.

One of the public area inside the Opera House. The tables were part of a cafe located there. The sweep of the architectural design was quite interesting. It shows some "lines and planes" (at least the lines anyway, maybe a few planes) for the Sunday Challenge. This was taken with my (new in 2016) Panasonic GX85. Very happy with it. Saw this remarkable bit of architecture in Cartagena, Spain, during our visit in 2013 on the Maasdam. The city area near the pier has some amazing buildings, some of which are in Art Noveau style.
