Care to guess how many fannies must have sat on these benches? :D
Have a nice week, everybody!
And forgive if I'll be returning visits later on in the week. My first three days of the week at work are always long and busy ...
a trickle of tourists (PIP)

Masked and socially distanced, the tourists are coming back to Florence.
In the main image, the tiny black specks in the sky are swallows. They too have come back, as they do faithfully every year. Perhaps I get a stronger feeling of hope from the swallows than from the return of the tourists, though both are part of the life of the city.
In the main image, a few tourists line up to visit the newly cleaned up Baptistry.
In the Pip, an even smaller contingent of tourists gets admitted to the Duomo's Belltower.
HFF, everyone!

600 years old this year but not really looking its age, the Dome of Florence's cathedral basks in the evening light as seen from one of the side streets that lead into the Duomo Square.
Please see on black.

I really haven't the slightest idea why this area between the cathedral and the bell-tower would be fenced off. But it does show that fences, once you sharpen your eye for them, can truly be found just about everywhere! :)
Florence Duomo: detail

Detail of the side of Florence's Duomo on an overcast morning with almost no shadows. While the polychromous marble is beautiful in color too, the black and white seemed to work better with this abstract.
