interfaces - For Andy and Maurice (HappySnapper)

10 Jul 2021 27 15 257
On the banks of the Arno River. I find interfaces very interesting. Here the vegetation on the very edge of the river banks finds sufficient moisture to thrive even in the summer heat. A few paces away from the water everything dries out (and Park Services mows it down). For Maurice: no swans visiting this stretch of the river yet this year, but there's a small group that shows up almost every year. For Andy and Maurice: wishing you both a moment of simple serenity as you work at recovery or wait to learn news about the way forward.

Under the Tuscan sun

Olive tree and lush spring vegetation by the banks of the Arno River (with a little help from the light of the westering sun) Have a nice Sunday afternoon, everyone!

Fire escape

The fire escape of a hotel under renovation provides a stupendous trellis for an enterprising vine. Happy Resilient Fence Friday!

walk along the Arno river (PIP)

Two ladies walking along the Arno River banks got a halo of light as the westering sun hit their hair at a slant. (I think it does better large) In the PIP: their dog followed at some distance, with his nose close to the ground, absorbing all the heady smells of the riverbanks.

on the path

Fallen leaves on a path on the river banks.

Molino di S. Andrea a Rovezzano

Fall vegetation colourfully takes over parts of the old mill structure by the Arno River and nearly hides the fence that keeps people from wandering under the unused arches. HFF to everyone!!!! P.S. Today some parts of Italy (Northern regions and Calabria) go into heavy restrictions after being identified as red zones in the current COVID19 wave. Tuscany is not included so I am still free to move around, except for the nation wide curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. My heart goes out to everyone who is affected and/or has to endure this kind of restrictions again. I know we can do it if we keep recognising that we can only beat this virus if we protect each other.

the underpass

Below a timeless country lane in the lazy quiet of the afternoon, with no one around but me and my bike. Above, the busy beltway to the E35 speedway.
