Right now restaurants can only do take away and must in any case be closed by 6 p.m. But famous Trattoria Il Cigno is clearly kept in good working order, waiting for a chance to reopen at least for outdoor dining. I liked the ladle decoration on the gate. In the PIPS another couple of takes of the gate and fence, with the blooming wisteria. Wishing everyone an HFF and a really nice weekend!

A sizeable chunk of the Italian workforce is back at work since May 4th (with PPE, social distancing and other preventative measures applied), but schools and libraries (as well as theatres, museums, gyms, cafes, restaurants and many shops) are still closed. The changing images on a large led screen behind a shuttered shop window in my neighbourhood seemed to offer an opportunity for a conceptual rendering of the cautious deconfinement necessary to (hopefully) prevent a new spike in infections. In the main image and PIPs: a library, a school and a worker without PPE, all appearing shut out behind the chainlink shutter. HFF to everyone, to those who are still under full confinement and to those who are emerging from it! And HFF also to those who (like many of my American friends and relatives), depending on where they live, may be confined, unconfined, deconfined or hiding under the mattress and shaking their head at the folly of their leaders ...
