Holiday decorations by the Santa Trinita Bridge. Despite the tough times, City Hall went out of its way to provide a bit of holiday cheer. It's good to have Ipernity back and running! I missed everyone! A big thank you to the IMA team, who must have worked really hard at fixing this unexpected problem.

One of the public housing buildings (now probably owned by the former renters) in my part of town recently got a new coat of bright yellow paint that made for interesting contrasts. I was told these public housing buildings were originally build to house Italian refugees from Istria and Dalmatia who were escaping the purges in Yugoslavia after the end of WWII. They brought their cultural habits with them and to this day every summer they get together at the nearby park for traditional dancing. This summer, couple dancing had to be eschewed of course and the program was substituted with open air folk theatre. HFF everyone!

I was intrigued by this stairway balcony that opened up onto what seems to be another balcony on the other side. HFF everyone!

A blooming mimosa bush in a city neighbourhood. Just a greeting to all my sisters out there on this day that celebrates our sacrifices and our contribution to a society that still too often does not afford us equal rights or equal pay.

Springtime fences - HFF everyone!

We pay them so little attention, especially in the winter when they are leafless and almost "invisible", but they clean our air, give us some respite from the sun in the summer and add a touch of natural beauty to our cement-dominated towns and cities.

I promised I would post some pictures of Florence and I will start with this little known modern building that caused some controversy a few years ago when it was built.

Changed date on a photo from last year from before I joined the HFF group, so I could use it to wish everyone a HFF! Just a nondescript building on the outskirts of town, but, together with the fence in the foreground, it seemed to make for interesting geometries and colors. I liked the little buddha statuette on the top left window sill, too.
