Whitby's new all-weather lifeboat, Lois Ivan,visits Staithes. Whitby's new lifeboat arrived in Whitby on Sunday and is now visiting along the coast it cost 2.5 million pounds.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) introduced its inshore rescue hovercraft (IRH) in 2002 with Morecambe Lifeboat Station being the first ever station to operate the lifesaving craft.

Barbara Anne, Lytham St Anns Lifeboat The Shannon is the latest class of all-weather lifeboat to join the RNLI fleet. She’s the first modern all-weather lifeboat to be propelled by waterjets instead of traditional propellers, making her our most agile and manoeuvrable all-weather lifeboat yet.

Whitby Lifeboat Station is a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboat station located in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England. It is one of nine situated along the Yorkshire coast.[1] Whitby has had a lifeboat station since 1802, with the RNLI responsible since 1861. In its 200 plus year history, Whitby has had five different lifeboat stations (although not all operated at the same time). A sixth lifeboat and station was located at Upgang, just up the coast from Whitby, and whilst it was considered separate from Whitby, it was crewed by men from the Whitby lifeboat.
