Taken on my walk from the high slopes of Bow Fell with Pike of Blisco on the right. My route, Old Dungeon Ghyll, Stool End, Oxendale, Pike of Blisco, Great Knott, Crinkle Crags, Three Tarns, Climbers Traverse, Great Slab, Bow Fell, Ore Gap, Angle Tarn, Rossett Gill, Old Dungeon Ghyll pub for a pint. 9.5 mountain miles.

Cloud Inversion

Taken from Bow Fell looking over to Scafell and Scarfell Pike To give you some context, a cloud inversion or temperature inversion is when the normal temperature distribution of air – warm at the bottom and colder as you get higher – becomes flipped or 'inverted'. This means at ground level you have a cold layer of air trapped and overlain by a layer of warm air. Copied from a old 1970 photo print

The Langdales from Bow fell. Great Langdale is a valley in the Lake District National Park in North West England, the epithet Great distinguishing it from the neighbouring valley of Little Langdale. Langdale is also the name of a valley in the Howgill Fells, elsewhere in Cumbria.
