I was recently in Sychrovsky Zamek for a wedding, so I had the chance to photograph this castle/chateau that I had never seen before. These buildings, the modern zamek, are actually quite recent, having been built roughly in the years 1832-1862 by the Rohan family. The site is much older, though, as a fort existed here as far back as the 15th Century. The zamek has been owned by the government since 1945, and since 1950 it has been open to tourists, with restoration work (primarily begun in the 1990's) continuing to this day. In 1995, it became an officially protected historic landmark.
