At this point, the first was so hot people had to move back, which may have been due to the wind picking up. Still, it's suprising that wood could burn so hot that from where we were (quite far back), we still had to move back further.

I took this as I was waiting for our train to board. The photo is too blurry to determine the train number (another limitation of the cameraphone), but I'm assuming this is a Class 814 railbus, the 812 Class listed in earlier spotter's guides being the prototype (although as far as I know several were built), and the 814 being the production model.

This was a few minutes later, as the sun was going down and the fire had been burning brightly long enough to consume some of the fuel.

This was later on in the night. It took until close to 2200 for it to really start to burn out.

Finally, while it was still actually light out, the bonfire was lit, although it had to be lit in several places and it still took awhile to get it going.
Dragon in Lanskroun, Bohemia (CZ), 2009

Lanskroun's most famous rock band, nationally known in the Czech Republic, is probably Dragon, with members seen here (from left to right) Jindra Helekal, Radim Kuka, and Jirka Hurych (if I've got these names wrong please correct me). Some of my friends know Jirka, and he seems to know who I am, so this show was just as much a reason to go to Lanskroun as the bonfire, and perhaps more so.

Here's the second decent shot I took of Dragon, although I took a lot of others, actually.
Tesla Logo in Lanskroun, Pardubicky Kraj, Bohemia…

Right across from the station was an old Tesla (electronics) factory that I couldn't determine the status of. After 1989, Tesla was drastically downsized and split up into subsidiaries as small as cities, with Lanskroun getting this plant as a specific "Tesla Lanskroun." It's still listed in the business directories, but the website, www.tesla-lan.cz , was down. One other Tesla facility in Lanskroun, however, is still functioning as Alema, Inc. Even the main website
www.tesla.cz/en/tesla has no info on Lanskroun, so I gave up. I do note that next to the logo is some grafitti of what looks like Ronald McDonald with a chainsaw, which is at least amusing.

This was a quick shot that I took of Nadrazi Lanskroun, which is really an unremarkable small-town Czech station.
