This summer has seen massive renovations on the DPP tram tracks. I took this shot in Andel.

Here's another 81-71M Class arriving in Andel. In unrebuilt form, these would have been the original B-Line trains.

Here's an alternate shot of the Andel ceiling.

The ceiling in the platform area of Andel would have no doubt looked quite futuristic in 1977, although I don't know if it's original. I brings to mind sci-fi movies of the period.

Moskevska station, on the B-Line, now known as Andel, was built between 1977 and 1985, and was one of the original B-Line stations. It also featured more Communist propaganda in its design than any other station, especially the bronzes along the platforms celebrating the Moscow Olympics in 1980, as well as the Soviet space programme. Another theme was the "friendship" or "peace" between Moscow and Prague.......since the Soviet army invaded Prague in 1968 to ensure this would always be the case. In spite of the Soviet Union's fall, and the Velvet Revolution against Communist rule in Czechoslovakia, the modern-day Czech authorities have left the Andel station alone, with the only change being the name change to Andel in 1990.

Food Court in Novy Smichov, Prague, CZ, 2009

I randomly shot this on the food court (for practical purposes the top level) of Novy Smichov, an urban shopping centre that's actually closer to the Andel Metro than Nadrazi Praha-Smichov. I noticed the Czech flags were up on the other side of the court (which is open in the middle to give natural light to the other levels), which are actually a bit unusual in the Czech Republic. Indeed, in most countries other than the U.S., flying the national flag on home territory isn't the norm except for at government facilities and institutions. In this case, the reason for the exception seemed to be that the restaurant in question was a traditional Czech restaurant, something increasingly rare within the Czech Republic itself.

Masinka Van, Andel, Prague, CZ, 2009

I was in Andel looking for a place to wait for someone, and I accidentally found this van while walking. Amazingly, it appears to be for a fairly successful company servicing and renting steam locomotives, and judging from the photo, old cars. I'm not sure what a 1970's Cadillac and an old Czech steam locomotive have in common, though.

I was so interested in photographing Andel Metro that I passed up this first train to come through, although I still photographed it.

This is just the Andel station sign, which is post-1989 and relatively run-of-the-mill.
