This was actually supposed to be uploaded with the other Malmo shots, but I discovered today that it was missing, meaning that I forgot it. :-) Hope you like it.

Amtrak also tested the X2000 tilt train, and everybody agrees that it was the inspiration for the Acela Express which came about eight years later. The Acela Express, while it still runs today, has been a technical disaster from the start, as nearly all of the engineering lessons gleaned from the X2000 testing were ignored. The X2000, however, is superb, and one of my regrets this trip was that I didn't get a chance to ride it.

Here's the exterior of Malmo station. It certainly has some nice touches to it, even if it isn't as ornate as say, Washington Union or London St. Pancras.

Amtrak, in the national passenger service in the U.S., once tested a train very similar to these called the "Big Kiss," although the experiment didn't result in any serious use in the U.S. DSB have a sizeable fleet of trains like these, and a number of them even work international services, like these.

I'm not sure of what class these EMUs are, but when I have time, hopefully this Christmas Break, I'll look it up.

Bridge to Malmo, Over the Baltic Sea, 2007

The rail and road bridge over the Baltic Sea between Copenhagen, Denmark, and Malmo, Sweden, is supposedly the longest in Europe, or so I'm told. In this situation, I was taking advantage of unexpected extra time on my Copenhagen trip to add another country to my list of places visited. I do plan to go back eventually, though, to see Stockholm and Goteburg.
