River Vltava and Prazky Hrad, Prague, CZ, 2012

This was my latest shot of Prazky Hrad, and although I think it came out well I have no recollection of why I took it.

View From Zeleznicni Most, Prague, CZ, 2009

Soon after passing Vysehrad, the main for Beroun crosses the Zeleznicni Most, the most visible of the rail bridges over the Vltava (as the others are in out-of-the-way neighborhoods). If you look out over the city, it's surprising what you can see when you consider that this is a cameraphone image. Every major landmark on the west bank of the Vltava (except for Miklasky Chram) from Stadion Strahov to Prazky Hrad is at least slightly visible, encompassing the neighborhoods of Smichov, Strahov, the Mala Strana, and the Hradcany all at once.

Longboat on the Vltava, Prague, CZ, 2008

I got this shot more or less randomly, when I noticed this replica Viking longboat in the Vltava. I'm not sure what the inspiration for the boat was. I'm assuming it's just an attempt at getting attention. In the background, incidentally, you can see Miklasky Chram on the left, and Prazky Hrad, the Prague Castle, on the right.

Prezidentska Palac, Picture 14, Prazky Hrad, Pragu…

This is my favorite shot of the lighting fixtures in the Presidentska Palac.

I like the alignment of this room, also one of the newer rooms in the palace, so I shot a few pictures with the lighting fixtures playing a prominent role.

This is one of the newer sections of the palace, dating to the late 1940s. The statue is of Jan Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia.

Most of the rooms in the Prezidentska Palac are very large, and this means that, today as historically, it is often used for major state gatherings and functions. Generally, you have to arrange tours, as security rules require it. We luckily had the right connections since we were students at the university, which is still a state institution.

The Prezidentska Palac, or Presidential Palace, of the Czech Republic is incorporated into the old royal palace in Prazky Hrad, the Prague castle. It isn't as old as the castle as a whole, and in fact is blatantly Baroque in most of its decorations. It has been renovated many, many times, though, and in addition to the considerable number of built-in sculptures and statues, like this one, it used to also house a large art gallery.

Prague Bridges From Most Legii, Prague, CZ, 2005

I randomly shot this on the way home from my first visit to the Prague Public Transport Museum, and looking at it later I thought it looked quite artistic, even if the bridges aren't as clearly in view as I had hoped. The main problem I see is that sign up in the right corner.
