This building is one of the exceptions in Marianske Lazne, in that it looks impressive, but isn't actually a hotel. It's the post office, in fact.

When I've asked my Czech friends what a "Mestsky Urad," is, they've told me there's no such thing, but as you can see here, they're simply wrong. "Uřad" means "office" in Czech, but it means more specifically a government office or authority, such as a Financni Urad (finance or tax office), Zivnostinsky Urad (business office), Kadastralni Urad (Cadastral Office), and so on. Having visited more than one Mestsky Urad, my understanding is that these buildings are meant as support buildings to the city hall, or radnice, where additional offices can be located, including those mentioned above.

The Lighthouse is a post-Communist office building in the Holesovice neighborhood, right next to Libensky Most and the River Vltava. It is one of the better known modern buildings in Prague.

This is one of the signs that I've been talking about all this time, over the former yard office which is now the park office. So which is it? Rangierbahnhof Tempelhof, or Bruckenmeisterei (or for that matter, Bruckmeisterei West)?

This building lay dormant from the fall of Communism until this year, when construction finally restarted in earnest on it. It's one of the more interesting buildings in Prague, being a building under construction that was abandoned for so long, but I must admit that I'm generally ignorant of it otherwise, so any input would be welcome, particularly if I got the name wrong. I mainly took this shot for the sunset, though, bracketed three times, and got this shot that looks a bit like an HDR, but isn't. At least it worked!! :-)
