Jon Searles' photos with the keyword: class 742

I'm 90% certain that I have the location of this photo correct, but if not it would be good to know that I'm wrong. :-) I took on a Eurocity train coming from Dresden, headed for Prague, and this doesn't look like Usti Nad Labem or anyplace else to me. Obviously, tell me if I'm wrong. :-)

I really love this shot. I saw these two trains lined up, and thought that it would not only make a good poster or calendar, but that Ceske Drahy would even like it!! I don't know enough Czech to ask them, though, and they're among the few travel-oriented people here who don't speak English. :-(

Cercany is so busy it's actually possible to line up an EMU, a diesel-hauled freight, and a railbus all at once if you're careful and lucky enough. :-)

Here's one of my few photos of a Czech freight train, this one taken in Cercany. The locomotive, a Class 742 diesel built by CKD sometime in the 1970s or 1980s, is a common sight on freight trains in Central Bohemia, and can also occassionally be seen on local passenger services.
