Here's an alternate shot. It looks like an infrared shot because of how the autumn leaves came out, but it's not. It's still the same roll of Fomapan.

This was where I switched rolls to Fomapan Action 400, a film I haven't shot very much before, if at all. This is the Baroque Quarter tower from the previous shot. I don't know the historical background to it any better than the one I was actually looking for.

On my first visit to Dresden in 2005, I found an interesting, partly ruined, church tower that had once been attached to a church...that no longer existed. I assumed it had been a victim of World War II. However, on the two most recent trips I made to Dresden, both of them in the Fall of 2011 (this was the second), I couldn't find it. I tried photographing everything that resembled it, and this tower, while also worth photographing, wasn't it. I eventually found it on Bohmischestrasse, while I was rushing to catch my ride back to Prague. In the end, I was unsuccessful at getting a good shot of the tower I wanted, and ended up with many other tower photos instead.

Here's another attempt at the previous shot, pointing up and zooming in to get more of the buildings and...no cars.

Here's another side street of the Baroque Quarter, note the street sign "Obergraben."

Here's one of the restored neighborhoods in the Baroque Quarter. Some of these restoration jobs were so new that there was still sawdust in the doorways, and some of them were being finished off by workers, in spite of it being the weekend. Few tenants had moved in yet.

Here's the unknown, unrestored building, shot with black and white film (Ilford Delta 400).

I haven't located much information on this building, and I admit that I'm doing these uploads in a hurry. It appears to be an art museum.

Here's some of the lettering, reading "Stadt Leipzig," or City of Leipzig. This is a bit mysterious, as Leipzig isn't Dresden.

One new discovery that I made on this visit was the restoration effort on the so-called "Baroque Quarter" of Dresden. Calling it a Baroque Quarter is a bit misleading, though, as most of the more famous buildings in Dresden date to the Baroque period, like the Zwinger Palace, etc. However, most of the more famous buildings were in the Altmarkt, which was destroyed in the Dresden firebombing, so they are wholly or partially rebuilt from scratch. The Baroque Quarter is far more original, although the restoration going on as of 2011 had to be thorough, as neglect had also taken its toll. This building, which was very large for the Baroque period and may not have been that old, was still awaiting restoration during my visit. It had a lot of lettering from past owners visible on the sides, though, which appeared to have been stripped in preparation for restoration.
