La Muralla de Lima (The big wall)

Builded in 1868, eleven kilometers long, 5 meters high and 5 meters thick was builded by order of Mr "Duque de la Palata" (Viceroy) to protect Lima from pirates attacks, remember that Lima was the most important city of South America at that times. But pirates never attack Lima, so in begins to be distroyed in 1870 to let LIma expansion. It has several fantastic doors (now all distroyed) that helps to control who enters or exits the city, and several bastions. What you see is Santa Lucia bastion. This 150 meters of wall is the last sample of the big wall of Lima, located in "Barrios Altos". This is a view from the base of the wall. Check full size for details

Common in many oldie houses in Lima downtown. In this dump (don´t know if it is the better word) lives 60 families. They coexist with ruins of the novitiate of Santo Domingo´s convent. Visual contact with the dog¡¡ HFF all my ipernity friends
