Lago Argentino is the biggest freshwater lake in Argentina, with a surface area of 1,415 km2 . It is 15.000 years old and lies within the Los Glaciares National Park (Unesco World Heritage) in a landscape with numerous glaciers. Glaciar Upsala is the largest glacier in South America. It is 60 km long . You can reach it only by boat, sailing among the icebergs, or ice islands, floating in Lago Argentino.

The emerald green Lake Braies(1,469 asl) , often considered as the most beautiful South Tyrol lake, is the starting point for numerous Dolomite hiking tours . According to legends, at the south end of the lake, where Mt Croda del Becco (2,810 m asl) is situated, there was the gate to the Fanes underworld, reachable only with a boat ride. You can either walk round the lake (4 km) or have a rowing boat trip and enjoy the beauty of the scenery. We decided to walk, but unfortunately the place was overcrowded...and it was a cloudy day, too. However, we enjoyed our trip all the same!
