Where Treaga Hill, Portreath suddenly meets Ralph's Cupboard. These three photos all taken within an hour of each other.

Coastal Erosion! The footpath has been moved back. When I first knew this stretch of the South West Peninsula Coast Path, it was more or less to my left! Google Maps still have it jauntily marching off into oblivion!!

Close to the edge!! The path is fairly new in this shot and it used to be where there is now nothing but fresh air!!! Google maps show this path but has the arrows going straight over the edge! Above Basset Cove, North Cliffs, Cornwall; another for Pam!

Collapsed sea caves. Probably when the legend of Ralph (a Cornish giant) and his cupboard (to store his stolen booty from shipwrecks) was first told, these really were sea caves and the word 'cupboard' made sense. ... Just guessing!

High tide. Much erosion visible here. Thrift thriving in the cracks.

The South West Peninsula Coast Path above Porthcadjack and Basset Cove. Sadly no more. When I next went for a walk here the following year (2012) this section had gone and the path was some way inland. On Google maps here, the path is still shown as following the old route, straight over the edge! You would have thought that they could have updated the map in 7 years! Godrevy lighthouse in the distance. I'm standing on a particularly crumbly stretch of clifftop. I moved away smartish after taking a few shots. I re-visited last summer and the coast had definitely receded from here and was fenced off!

Photo taken in August 2014. I previously walked this stretch of coast path in the summer of 2010 and the path did indeed go straight across from this point! A massive land slip had occurred in those few years. Porthtowan and St Agnes Beacon can be seen. First posted on ipernity in 2018. Better on large.

Photo taken in 2011. The last time I came here, last year, much of the crumbling cliff on the far side of the cove had disappeared.
