I remember doing this climb in 1978 but I forget its name or its grade (of difficulty, possibly a VS - very severe - actually not so technically demanding). It was nice to escape for a few hours today and re-visit an old stamping ground: Zennor.
Shooting into the sun. Wasn't sure if it was going to work.

El Cancho Largo (The Guardian of the Mountains), La Sierra de La Cabrera. Mondalindo is the hulking massif in the background and Penelara (the highest peak in the Sierra de Guadarrama) is in the far distance to the left.
In all honesty I didn't see the climbers until I uploaded the photo later that night! They must have been very quiet for climbers, especially Spanish climbers!
Another day, other climbers - at the overhang crux, www.ipernity.com/doc/2247598/46031006/in/album/1034386
Sight and sound, because I like it! Tim Buckley, 'Get On Top' from Greetings From L. A. (1972).

Surmounting the overhang, El Cancho Largo.
In many of my photos from La Sierra de La Cabrera you can see a mushroom shaped rock at the top of the crest and, indeed, it is the highest point of the Sierra. This is it in close up. I have posted shots from all angles, even from above, over the years. It is also The Guardian of the Mountains in a few other shots!
