Possibly my favourite Madrid park.

Parque del Oeste, Madrid. I was lining up a shot when the sprinklers came on at full force and the twin spurt of the one you can see here, came straight up between my legs and knocked me off my feet! I managed to take the shot you see and held on to my smartphone! But for 20 minutes it looked like I had had an unfortunate accident!

One of the nicest of Madrid's parks, situated on grassy banks and with fine views to the Sierra de Guadarrama. This was the front line in the siege of Madrid in the Civil War and it took a long time, effort and money to restore and improve this park. But 'hats off!!', I think they did a grand job!

A gift from President Nasser of Egypt to Spain for its help in conserving ancient buildings before the construction of the Aswan Dam
