Sierra de La Cabrera in Spring.

Lavender again and no apologies! (Although I have just seen that I posted this only a week ago, DOH!!)

Spanish or Iberian lavender, Sierra de La Cabrera. On the old GR10, the long distance footpath from Valencia to Lisbon (the new path goes north just before here and takes a radically new route north of the Sierra - no idea why they changed it - ), crossing the entire peninsula. Actually hardly anyone attempts this, such is the alternative lure of the many pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Campostela.

A solitary juniper tree ( Juniperus comunis , thank you Isabel!) and one of my favourite trees. This is on one of my more regular approaches to the ridge and so I greet it like an old friend. Surrounded by lavender and so I suppose the terrain should be called 'cantueso'.
