Portreath Harbour. On the far left you can see surfers waiting for the next big wave. I would have thought they were far too close to the harbour wall, but then what do I know? (I have never surfed in my life. The closest I came to it - in a very round about kind of way - was when I went out with the ex-wife of a world surfing champion for a couple of years). For Pam.

Three severe storms in this decade have meant the wall has had to be rebuilt each time. The last one only a few weeks ago. I expect work is carrying on as I type this! They do complete the repairs very quickly so they might already have finished!

The stone structure at the end of the pier was demolished by a severe storm the year after I took this shot. It was rebuilt straight away and looks exactly the same today, I'm pleased to say!
