Granite scenery. Just under the summit of Cancho gordo. In the distance l-r, La Pedriza, La Cuerda Larga and Peñalara, the highest point in the Sierra de Guadarrama (or Sierra de Madrid).
Sierra de La Cabrera, the far western end.

The idea is to follow the crest of this ridge as faithfully as possible. It's good fun as the granite provides superb friction and hence 'stickability' if you have the right footwear! It also helps if you enjoy a spot of rock-hopping and using both hands and feet occasionally and the odd spot of adrenalin-pumping exposure!
If you have ever enjoyed Striding Edge on Helvellyn, then this would tick all your boxes and then some! (greature exposure, craggier rocks and much longer!). This shot is of just the lower starting (or finishing) stretch.
Sight and sound. For no other reason than I've always liked it and another well crafted sub - three minute pop song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmkcKjGyJv8

I took my girlfriend here once. She was complaining about the path (or lack of one!), her footwear, her fear of heights and then she scrambled up and round the corner ahead of me - with a helpful push à la derrière from yours truly - and suddenly she saw the point of all the effort and struggle and puff!!! .. and why I do this!!
(La Sierra de La Cabrera, The Bustarviejo Valley below and lots of granite!
In the distance from right to left, Peñalara partly in cloud, Bola del Mundo,
Sierra de La Pedriza - La Sierra de Cabrera's big brother in the granite extravaganza stakes!)

La Sierra de Guadarrama, from the western end of La Sierra de La Cabrera from near La Torre de Valdemanco and looking over the town of that name and the Bustarviejo Valley with La Cuerda Larga (including Bolo del Mundo) and Mondalindo the two mountains left and right respectively. I don't think I've been up here since this shot was taken 7 years ago. It needs a re-visit!
