Winter impression II B&W

07 Dec 2017 56 44 1169
A northern Norwegian winter impression from 2014. Often a long lasting winter that provides cool photo opportunities. Here you see the rock island Håja that was the inspiration for the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsdalen. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arctic_Cathedral www.facebook.com/peter.vanlom Take a look here too: 1x.com/member/nordicscapes Lonely Man Photography © All Rights Reserved. Blue Hour in B&W

01 Dec 2017 56 64 1009
During nordic winter time the blue hour can be magical. The time between light and darkness can produce photographic gems. But as you see, I am still in my monochrome period... Enjoy the weekend. www.facebook.com/peter.vanlom Lonely Man Photography © All Rights Reserved. On Explore

Decay into Emptiness

06 Oct 2017 34 28 894
This is a typical view on the tundra (vidda) in the nordic countries. Snow fences in need of some maintenance. The monochrome edit makes the atmosphere fitting to the lonely feeling one can get here. The climate in the winter can be quite fierce This picture is taken near the border of Norway and Finland. Vastness

20 Sep 2017 55 50 739
I finally decided to give Ipernity a chance. For a long time I was not sure. After the closing down of Panoramio I did not want to waste time and effort. But ok, here I am again with a winterly scene in monochrome. Not really fine photo- technical quality. However this picture represents a bit of northern Norwegian nature. The vastness of nature makes man almost disappear. But can you imagine what a blast these guys have... FjordScape (Stone)

17 Nov 2016 77 33 1394
A typical view of a fjord landscape in northern Norway. The original edit was in sepia but B&W works too, I now think . You will find the high resolution image here: 1x.com/photo/626009 www.facebook.com/peter.vanlom Lonely Man Photography © All Rights Reserved. Made it to EXPLORE frontpage.

Cabin

19 Oct 2016 111 27 2010
A clear spring day. That means, still knee deep snow here in the north. A trip to 'Folkeparken' resulted in a few nice colourful pictures. This little part of the park deserved however a B&W edit. Blue Mountain

04 Oct 2016 105 47 1634
Long time no see.. According to the title this should be a blue mountain. And it was... The monochrome edit, I hope, is interesting too. The clear light and the low clouds were a good combination that day. Enjoy this northern norwegian mountain impression. Software: PSE12, PhotomatixEssentials. Telemark Serenity monochrome

08 Aug 2016 101 30 1596
Back to a winter landscape. The county Telemark is located in southeastern Norway, extending from Hardangervidda to the Skagerrak coast. The coastline extends from Langesundsfjorden to Gjernestangen at the border with Aust-Agder. Telemark has a very broken and heterogeneous landscape, including many hills and valleys.(Wikipedia) Lonely Man Photography © All Rights Reserved. Made it to EXPLORE frontpage.

Mood; Hamningberg

30 Jun 2016 118 56 1867
This is a view of the landscape along the road from Vardø to Hamningberg, Finnmark in northern Norway. This is a narrow road, basically one car width, surrounded by sharp rock formations. We drove there on a clouded summer day with Deep Purple loudly in the speakes. That was a fitting combination. Dear friends this is the last colour upload for the time being. As you see in the image above the colour fades into monochrome. The following uploads wil be monochrome images. I feel the need to go back to my 'roots' but now with totaly different editing tools. I hope you'll enjoy those as much as you do the colourful ones. You will find the high resolution image here: 1x.com/photo/1031773 Lonely Man Photography © All Rights Reserved. A Quiet Corner

12 May 2016 120 50 1527
Days are growing longer and they are getting warmer. So fortunate that one can find a nice corner of the world and enjoy some quietness. Lonely Man Photography © All Rights Reserved. Made it to EXPLORE frontpage.

Finding Way

14 Jan 2016 69 30 1339
These signposts were put up (1896-1898) after a tragedy where people died during a snowstorm. These signposts are along the old road between Kautokeino and Alta in Finnmark, northern Norway. They are now considered as national heritage. Dramatic sky and weather in summer and winter are prominent on the tundra. Grense Jakobselv - The end of the road -

30 Nov 2015 66 46 1580
Now it is celebration time with a sour aftertaste. Today I reached 1,5 million views on Panoramio http://www.panoramio.com/user/6685358 . Because of all the problems with Google and their treatment of Panoramio and its users I had my last upload a couple of months ago. For that reason I publish my last PA upload here on Ipernity. It is a panoramic view of the land/sea-scape at the top point of Grense Jakobselv https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grense_Jakobselv looking east at the Norwegian-Russian border. You see Russia in the far end of this picture. The image contains 4 HDR edited photographs (a total of 12 pictures). This picture is part of a little panorama project I had this summer. Pine in Midnight Sun

17 Nov 2015 95 59 1436
I've been thinking about what would be appropriate to upload. The last days of terror in Europe and the Middle East were all over the news. A midnight sun impression seems to be a good choice. Now we can warm up a litle before the winter truly starts. This was one of the few nights in july that the mosquitoes were abundant. So a tripod and setting a timer was necessary. Then I had to run and tried to lure the mosquitoes away from the camera. Even then the spot healing brush tool was used extensively afterwards. Lonely Man Photography © All Rights Reserved. Evening Panorama

11 Nov 2015 136 67 2113
This must be my last autumn mood upload for this year. And I'll keep it simple with only colour and silhouettes. We move a fjord to the north and a little higher up. At this particular time of the year the sun is only peeping over the mountain for a couple of minutes. Lonely Man Photography © All Rights Reserved. Made it to EXPLORE frontpage.

Nordic Spring - Emerge

06 Nov 2015 60 53 1230
I never heard about it before, Perhaps not strange as a newcomer to Ipernity. HFF seems to mean Happy Fence Friday. Last Spring I found myself a fence and it almost did not make it through the winter... Anyway, HFF wishes and please can some one enlighten me! Ersfjord Fall

04 Nov 2015 119 74 1611
I could not resist. After the warm welcome at Ipernity I'll like to treat you with a colourful image. It is one of my favorite spots close to Tromsø. This time not in blue but in orange shades. The picture is taken from a bit higher elevation. In the fall one can often observe red and orange colours in the evening. Ersfjord Blue

31 Oct 2015 145 106 2733
So problem, what to upload next. I decided to stay in the neighborhood. Ersfjord, a popular site for locals and tourists, in winter and summer, during day and night... Only about half an hour driving from Tromsø This image is taken on a day with high pressure, meaning that it is cold with a clear sky and crisp colours. I hope you enjoy this fjordscape that is my second most popular image on Panoramio but most viewed there.
