A northern Norwegian winter impression from 2014. Often a long lasting winter that provides cool photo opportunities. Here you see the rock island Håja that was the inspiration for the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsdalen. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arctic_Cathedral

I finally decided to give Ipernity a chance. For a long time I was not sure. After the closing down of Panoramio I did not want to waste time and effort. But ok, here I am again with a winterly scene in monochrome. Not really fine photo- technical quality. However this picture represents a bit of northern Norwegian nature. The vastness of nature makes man almost disappear. But can you imagine what a blast these guys have...

A clear spring day. That means, still knee deep snow here in the north. A trip to 'Folkeparken' resulted in a few nice colourful pictures. This little part of the park deserved however a B&W edit.

Nordic Night

It is all about the light, isn't it? After summer with light around the clock and the opportunity to take midnight sun pictures the fall came with red- and orange colours in the sky. This year the aurora season started already early october. The sun went crazy and that resulted in northern light that could be seen in big parts of Europe. This image was taken about a year ago. There was little snow before Xmas, so an extra light show from mother nature was a welcome intermezzo. It was a stormy night but the sky was clear.

Tourist Magnet

Time to upload an image with an architectural content again. Lots of pictures are taken of this landmark. I felt that a little high key / hdr editing was fitting. The Oslo Opera House has been a tourist magnet since it was opened in 2008. One can walk any where on the roof and enjoy great views. It is the home of The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and the national opera theatre in Norway. The building is situated near central Oslo, at the head of the Oslofjord. The angled exterior surfaces of the building are covered with Italian marble and white granite and make it appear to rise from the water. It is the largest cultural building constructed in Norway since Nidarosdomen was completed circa 1300.
