Taken at Port Douglas' Four Mile Beach the first morning of our stay there. A great beginning!

Something a little different, some kitesurfers at Four Mile Beach. Looked like fun but also like hard work.

Not native to Australia, these Spider Lilies (Hymenocallis lirisome) were photographed near our guest house in Port Douglas.

Another sunrise photo from the beach at Port Douglas. We didn't even see too many other sunrises since the weather turned gray and cloudy, but this on the first morning of our stay there was magnificent.

This is Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas the morning after our arrival there. Our guest house was just the other side of the trees in the foreground.

After spending two and half days in the area of Cairns, my wife and I traveled with our oldest daughter to Port Douglas. This was our first morning there and the sunrise we saw along Four Mile Beach.

These were photographed near the guest house in which we stayed in Port Douglas, Australia. They are all stems of the same kind of palm, though of different ages, the palm being the Red Sealing Wax Palm, Cyrtostachys renda. This palm is also known as the Red Palm, the Rajah Palm and the Lipstick Palm and though native to Thailand, Sumatra, Malaysia and Borneo, is a popular ornamental plant in areas where it will grow.

We traveled up to Port Douglas Friday evening after exploring the Atherton Highlands during the day and are now staying in Port Douglas with other family members who traveled in on Saturday. Our guest house is only a few steps from Four Mile Beach and we watched the sunrise there yesterday morning.
