This is my 2000th picture to be posted on Flickr and yesterday I passed 250,000 views as well. I had trouble deciding which photo to upload to mark these milestones but finally decided on this, first because it was just taken a few days ago and second because it's an orchid and I've posted more orchid pictures than anything else. Thanks, everyone, for your interest, comments and friendliness. These are flowers of Stelis ciliolata, a small orchid species from Ecuador that is almost constantly in bloom.

In Explore, March 18, 2012, #159. Scaphosepalums are a group of small orchids belonging to the Pleurothallidinae and are related to Masdevallia. Many of them have the long "horns" like this flower and are "upside down" by the standard of most orchids, with the column at the bottom of the flower rather than the top. This flower is on a plant several inches tall that has successively blooming flower spikes 4-6 inches long. The flowers themselves are nearly two inches from tip to tip. It comes from Ecuador.
