This is a California Coneflower, a rather rare wildflower that grows in serpentine seeps. We found it in exactly such a place while visitng various bogs in sothwestern Oregon.

This is Rudbeckia glaucescens, the California or Waxy Coneflower, another serpentophile, i.e., a plant that loves serpentine soils. For that reason it is found only in southern Oregon and northern California where such soils exist, and grows there in bogs, fens and wetlands. It is uncommon, too, as a result of its preference for serpentine and was a delight to see when we found it in the Siskiyou Mountains of Oregon. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/08/orchid-hunting-in-siskiyous.html
