The day we spent in Yosemite Valley was spent hiking the Mist Falls and Nevada Falls trails. The hike was fairly strenuous and very busy. It is one of the most popular trails in the park, but we did it anyway though we had trouble finding parking at the trailhead. When finished with the hike we got some snacks at the visitors' center before going on to our campsite and the northern part of the park.

Taken from the Upper Falls trail this was one of our last views of Yosemite Valley and Half Dome. We left the park the next morning and headed for King's Canyon and Sequoia.

This was the Merced River the day we hiked to Mirror Lake.

The second morning of our visit to Yosemite National Park we drove into the park early in the morning and after stopping for some photos along the way, this one of them, we hiked to Mirror Lake, below Half Dome.

This is Yosemite Valley from the Valley View turnoff. El Capitan is on the left and Bridalveil Falls is visible on the right. The river is the Merced River.

The first morning of our stay in Yosemite National Park we attempted to hike the John Muir trail to Nevada Falls but had to turn back near Vernal Falls because of ice and snow on the trail. We had an early morning start and crossed the Merced River here to get to the trailhead.

On our first evening in Yosemite it was very busy in the park, the last night of firefall for the season. We stopped at a quiet layby along the road out of the park and took some photos of El capitan reflected in the Merced River before moving on to our night's encampment.

This is the Merced River in Yosemite National Park. The photo was taken in Yosemite Valley as we prepared to hike up to Vernal and Nevada Falls, a hike that we were later forced to abort close to Vernal Falls due to snow and ice on the trails.
