These are the leaves of a Yarrow, probably White Yarrow, Achillea millefolium. They had caught the sunlight and my attention but are a long way from blooming. They were photographed at Fishtrap Lake in the channeled scablands of eastern Washington.

Today's photos are of wildflowers that I've photographed near our home, this the Common Yarrow, a plant reputed to have psychoactive properties and to be useful in stanching blood flow and as an analgesic.

Another of our native wildflowers is Common Yarrow, Achillea millefolium. Its leaves are very pungent and can be used as a tea that is supposed to have mild narcotic properties.
