We saw quite a few birds along the Mission Trail in San Antonio, Texas, and a lot of these. Every rock seemed to have a Cormorant to go with it.

The smallest of our native cormorants, this example was photographed from the Coupeville ferry dock while waiting for the ferry to leave for Port Townsend on the Olympic Penninsula.

This was taken in Port Townsend from the ferry as it was preparing to sail. The bird is a Pelagic Cormorant, I think, a very common bird around the ports.

This common bird is often seen inland but usually along the coast. This bird is drying its wings and was photographed at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park.

The photo was taken last autumn at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park, Vancouver. The birds are probably Double-crested Cormorants and they are drying their wings on a log that has obviously been much used for that purpose. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2013/12/stanley-park-vancouver-part-3-lost.html

We were on a camping trip May 23-25 with a group of 6-8th graders and while with them went as foot passengers on the ferry to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. While waiting for the ferry to leave I tried to get pictures of the cormorants who were nesting on the docking pilings and flying back and forth to the water. This was the best of the in-flight shots that I was able to get. I am reasonably certain of the identification but am willing to be corrected. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/09/deception-p...
