The American Robin is a much larger bird than the European Robin and though there is a superficial resemblance in coloration they belong to different families, the European Robin a Flycatcher and the American Robin a Thrush. These are familiar birds all across North America and are often seen hopping across lawns and pulling earthworms from the ground.

This is the American Robin which looks a bit like the European Robin with its red breast, but is much larger and belongs to the Thrush family.

This is the American Robin, a Thrush that spend much of its time hopping on the ground looking for food.
