This was photographed along the trail at Dog Mountain in the Columbia River gorge and identified by a friend as the Two-banded Checkered Skipper, Pyrgus ruralis.

Photographed along the Old Blewett Road on the eastern side of the North Cascades in Blewett Pass. The area is a wonderful place for butterflies, especially when the Snowberry bushes are blooming.
