RHH's photos with the keyword: gaylor peak

I have a few more photos of Yosemite National Park to post, this one of Upper Gaylor Lake, taken on our hike to those lakes.

After hiking to Upper Gaylor Lake we went on around the lake and followed the trail, visible in the photo to the site of the Great Sierra Silver Mine. The photo looks back over the lake to Gaylor Peak and beyond it to the ridge over which we hiked to reach this lake and the one beyond it, not visible in the photo.

From Gaylor Lakes we hiked to the site of the now-abandoned Great Sierra Silver Mine on the northeast border of Yosemite. The effort was never successful and only a small amount of silver was found. The area, however, is full of old ruined buildings and mine shafts.

As we hiked from Upper Gaylor Lake to the site of the old Sierra Silver Mine, this was the view back down the trail. The peak is Gaylor Peak and the ridge over which hiked to reach the lakes is just beyond the peak.
