The formation on the left is Angel's Landing, a popular hiking destination. The place is Zion National Park. The photo was taken on a hike to Scout's Overlook, near Angel's Landing.

We did not spend much time in Zion National Park on our recent trip, only a day. That day was well spent hiking to Scout's Overlook, the trail to which is also the trail to Angel's Landing. The trail is about three and a half miles round trip but is very steep with over a thousand feet of elevation gained.
