Photographed in Hidden Canyon in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, this is, I believe the Claret Cup Cactus.

Also known as the Hedgehog Cactus, the Claret Cups were in bloom when we were in Canyonlands National Park, some of them covered with flowers. This example was photographed on a long day hike in Lost Canyon in the Needles District.

Here is another example of the Claret Cup or Hedgehog Cactus, this photographed on a hike to Corona Arch, a hike that started at the Potash Road north of Moab, Utah.

This photo was taken In the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park in Utah last spring. My wife and I spent a few days in the park on our way to Texas and Big Bend National Park where we hiked, camped and backpacked with our oldest daughter. The cactus is the Claret Cup Cactus.
