RHH's photos with the keyword: west rim trail

This was the view from Scout's Overlook when we hiked part of the West Rim trail last spring in Zion National Park. Both photos were taken with my phone because I forgot to change the battery in my camera and it expired along the hike.

These switchbacks, known as Walt's Wiggles are part of the West Rim trail, the trail to Scout's Overlook and Angel's Landing in Zion National Park.

Taken on a hike to Scout's Overlook in Zion National Park, the trail is visible on the right and the Virgin River and Great White Throne are also visible - the photo looks north up the canyon.

Our first day in Grand Canyon National Park was spent hiking the West Rim Trail from the Village to Hermit's Rest, a hike of about nine miles with minimal elevation gain. This was the view, looking ahead to the first viewpoint from the Village where we began our hike.

The West Rim Trail follows the south Rim of the Grand Canyon, often very near the edge of the canyon. We hiked the trail from the Village to Hermit's Rest, this photo taken between Hopi Point and Mohave Point.

Angel's Landing is the best known hike in Zion National Park. It begins at the location of this photo and follows a very narrow ridge out to its end. Some parts of the trail are so steep and narrow that chains have been installed to help the hikers. Some of the chains are visible in the photo. We did not hike out to the end of Angel's Landing but finished our hike at Scout's Overlook, where this photo was taken.

On our recent trip to California and Arizona we spent a night at Grand Canyon and hiked the west rim trail most of the way to Hermit's Rest. The Bright Angel trail is visible in the canyon.
