The last day in Yosemite we hiking the John Muir Trail to Lower and Upper Cathedral Lakes. This was the view to the northwest from the shore of Upper Cathedral Lake.

This is Cathedral Peak from Upper Cathedral Lake, taken on a hike along the John Muir Trail in Yosemite National Park.

From Lower Cathedral Lake we hiked back and around to the upper lake of the same name. This is the upper lake with Tresidder Peak in the background.

As we hiked from Lower to Upper Cathedral Lake we came through an area that had been burned, this tree killed by the fire.

Taken as I explored the northern end of Lower Cathedral Lake in Yosemite National Park after hiking into the lake with my wife along the John Muir Trail.

At Lower Cathedral Lake in Yosemite National Park, this Raven stayed close to us, hoping for a handout, especially when we were having our lunch. If we moved away from our backpack he was right there hoping to get into it. We didn't give him anything, since that is against the rules in the national parks but we took his photo.

I hate having my photo taken for obvious reasons but my wife always insists on it. After hiking to Lower Cathedral Lake in Yosemite there were two other people there, one of them obviously skilled with a camera and my wife persuaded her to take some photos of us with our cameras. The lady's skill with a camera, however, did nothing to make a better photo of me. Anyway, here we are, and at least the lake and my wife are worth looking at.

While my wife sat and relaxed after hiking to the lake, I did some exploring around Lower Cathedral Lake (in Yosemite). This photo was take from the north end of the lake and shows Cathedral Peak in the distance.

This is Nevada Falls in Yosemite National Park. The first day of our recent visit to Yosemite we hiked the John Muir Trail to Vernal and Nevada Falls, a round trip of about eight miles and quite a strenuous hike.

While in Yosemite Valley, the first day of our visit to the park, we hiked the John Muir Trail to Nevada Falls, visible on the right side of the photo. The trail was about eight miles round trip and quite strenuous, especially since we had not done any hiking for a while.

When in Yosemite National Park recently we attempted to hike the John Muir trail to Vernal and Nevada Falls. We were able to hike in several miles but were stopped short of Vernal Falls by snow and ice on the trail. This was the best view we had of Vernal Falls and we did not see Nevada Falls at all. The other photos are from the same hike.

These were the cliffs above us in the morning light as we hiked the John Muir trail in Yosemite National Park. We were hiking to Vernal and Nevada Falls but were stopped short of the falls by ice and snow on the trail.
