When this was taken we were hiking the Maroon-Snowmass trail in the Colorado Rockies and were beginning to get above the trees. If I am not mistaken, this is the valley up which we hiked to Snowmass Lake and the next day to Trailrider Pass.

Last July I hiked in the Colorado Rockies with two of my brothers. This was the beginning of the first trail we were on, the Maroon-Snowmass trail which took us through Aspen groves as we started to climb to Snowmass Lake. The day started sunny and warm but became cloudy and cool.

After spending a day camping and exploring near Aspen, my brothers and I set off on our backpacking excursion. This was taken near the beginning of the Maroon-Snowmass Trail, the trail we followed to Snowmass Lake where we camped the first night. This trail took us through Aspen groves to the timberline and the lake. We did thirty miles over three and a half days and climbed five passes over 12000 feet (3700 m).
