Photographed along the Castle Creek Road in the Colorado Rockies, this is Gunnison's Mariposa Lily, a strikingly beautiful wildflower and one which we saw as well along the trail to Cathedral Lake.

Gunnison's Mariposa Lily is a common wildflower of the Colorado Rockies and the Black Hills of South Dakota. This example was photographed along the Castle Creek Road south of Aspen.

Gunnison's Mariposa, one of the beautiful Sego Lilies, is a western wildflower, this one photographed in the Castle Creek area of the Colorado Rockies. The photo may be the last I post for a while. We will be leaving later today for Oregon and California and will be tomorrow in the area of Mount Shasta and Lassen Peak. We plan to be away for almost three weeks and will be going on from southern California to Arizona visiting various parks, hiking and backpacking as we wish.
