Cerro Castellan is a landmark on the southwest end of Big Bend National Park. The photo was taken from the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive.

After spending most of the day kayaking on the Rio Grande, we headed back north along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive to our campsite in the Paint Gap Hills. The drive is along the west side of the park and Cerro Castellan, this formation, is on the southwest end. Our campsite was on the north side of the park.

This lone peak known as Cerro Castellan is near the Castolon Visitors' Center in the southwest corner of Big Bend National Park. Near the Rio Grande and Santa Elena Canyon, we would see it again the next day when we went kayaking on the river.
