This lone peak known as Cerro Castellan is near the Castolon Visitors' Center in the southwest corner of Big Bend National Park. Near the Rio Grande and Santa Elena Canyon, we would see it again the next day when we went kayaking on the river.

I believe this is Maverick Mountain on thee west side of Big Bend National Park. The photo was taken from the Old Maverick Road as we traveled into the park from the west.

After staying in the town of Study Butte overnight, we spent the second full day of our visit to Big Bend National Park exploring the west side of the park along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. We drove into the park along the Old Maverick Road and then turned south on the scenic drive at Castolon. This photo was taken near Castolon and the insets there and along the Old Maverick Road. The mountains are the Chisos Mountains, the peak on the left Pulliam Peak if I am not mistaken, and the peak in the background Casa Grande. We had spent the previous day between these peaks in the Chisos Basin and would spend the last day of our stay in the park hiking to the gap through which Casa Grande is visible, the gap known as the Window.

I believe these are Casa Grande and Carter Peak from the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive in Big Bend National Park. The day before this photo was taken we had been between these peaks in the Chisos Basin.

This was taken along the Old Maverick Road on the the west side of Big Bend National Park not far from the west entrance to the park.
