This was taken at the Devil's Punchbowl State Natural Area along the Oregon coast. The Devil's Punchbowl is a huge hole in the rock worn by the swirling water of the tides.

The Devil's Punchbowl is the large hole in the rock visible on the right of the photo. It is worn by the tides as they come in and out and is part of a State Natural Area named for this formation.

Herring Gull

The American Herring Gull or Smithsonian Gull is considered to be a subspecies of the European Herring Gull. This one was photographed at Boiler Bay along the Oregon coast as we made our way south to Yaquina Head.
