The Mojave Yucca does not form a "tree" like the Joshua Trees of the southwest deserts but has an enormous and spectacular flowering stalk. These were just beginning to flower when we saw them along the road to Keyes View In Joshua Tree National Park.

This is the flower stalk of the Mojave Yucca. When in full flower it is spectacular and we would see them in flower later in the day. This was photographed along the road to Keyes View.

The Joshua Trees for which Joshua Tree National Park is named are not trees but Yuccas. This is another species of Yucca that is found in the park, the Mojave Yucca, Yucca schidigera. These were coming into flower (we saw them open and blooming later) along the Keyes Point Road.
